Founder roped into daredevil charity fundraiser

Monday, March 31st, 2008 by Ran (read all posts by Ran)

Glasses Direct founder Jamie Murray Wells and 16 members from our customer service team helped raise thousands of pounds for the Stroke Association charity this weekend by abseiling down St Barnabas’ Church in Gloucester under the gaze of Reverend Helen Simmons.

Charity managers from the Stroke Association said they were delighted with the commitment from the Glasses Direct team. “I’d like to thank Jamie and the team from Glasses Direct for volunteering to take part in this exciting challenge”. Jamie is now looking for other charity events to get involved in whilst doing something even more daredevil so let us know what you’d like him to do next!

Glasses – An exercise in internet chivalry

Friday, March 28th, 2008 by David (read all posts by David)

Someone from New York design blog unconsideration found a pair of prada spectacles lying in a park.

“Instead of just leaving them there waiting to be crushed by a Bugaboo or bike, or chewed up by a dog or pigeon, they were picked up in hopes of finding their rightful owner. All through the magic of the internet and the generous linkage of those interested in solving a good cause. Even if the owner does not read this, perhaps a friend, or a friend of a friend will.”

Was it an international traveller? Were you there recently? Are they yours?

If you have lost them, you could do worse than trying a pair of these for £55 including lenses:

Find your glasses…with some glasses

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008 by David (read all posts by David)

As a glasses obssessive, and a geek, nothing could be much better for me than these super techno glasses.
Hideki Nakayama, at the School of Information Science and Technology

They can recognise objects, rewind to the moment in time that you saw them, and help you find lost items.

I need some.

Now.
