The Voice debuted its first round of blind auditions this weekend just gone and our ears immediately pricked up when we heard the voice of 20 year old Sam Buttery. Singing Adele’s ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ Sam soon got Sir Tom Jones’ attention, who in turn saw his potential and pressed his button, making the mid-lander’s dream come true.
We’re backing Buttery all the way not only for his incredible voice, but for his unique sense of style too. Mixing 50s teddy boy style with modern day cool, this kid also knows how to rock a pair of frames too. In fact, we can’t help but think that the specs he wore for his blind audition on Saturday were the absolute spit of London Retro’s Soho frames. See for yourself and let us know what you think?

As well as the 40s being a major player in the style-games at the moment, the soulful sounds of the 50s have been making a comeback too. With the deaths of three very talented artists; Etta James, Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston this year, soul music isn’t just finding its voice again, it’s becoming hugely vocal in the fashion industry too.
There has been a plethora of celebrities going for the retro eyewear option. Lady Gaga (seen above with John Lennon’s son, Sean) really prettys up a pair of aviator frames, whilst Sean Lennon showcases his family jeans, looking timelessly handsome in a classic wayfarer style. More recently, US songwriter and singer, Raphael Saadiq has been snapped working a pair of retro spectacles into his sartorial attire very nicely.
Shop from London Retro’s new line for more retro inspired silhouettes.
Fancy trying the look yourself, without the commitment? No problem. Our FREE Home Trial allows to you pick up to 4 frames which we’ll deliver to your home or work so that you can test them out on your mates/colleagues/family/dog before you make your mind up. Personally, we’re really liking the Mai Tai for a lightweight unisex option.

Talking of make-overs, we’re not the only ones who’ve been busy reassessing our body-work as it were. Our friends at ITV’s This Morning gave us a call and asked if we could help them out making 3 hard-working, well deserving mums, into glamour-puss yummy -mummys. We of course obliged and got busy in picking out some of our most on-trend and flattering styles for hardworking mum, Francine who was given an image overhaul by super-style duo Leo Bancroft and Glen Campbell.
Watch the amazing transformation, click on the below:
Francine, who had recently lost over 5 stone in weight was still wearing her baggy jumpers and jeans, and daughter Victoria thought it was about time she showed off her new figure. Sporting a jade green figure skimming dress and a simple but stylish nude clutch and heels, Francine was given a style injection with her prescription being incased by Element Eyewear frame, Goodall. Bringing out the childcare workers sparkly eyes and flattering her new make-up with its semi-rimmed silhouette, the Goodall proved to be the perfect choice to accessorise Francine’s final reveal. We think she looked fabulous! Don’t you think?

We were really excited when a sneak-peek of London Retro’s new ad campaign landing in our inbox this morning. Shot on location in London’s coolest northern spots, the new collection has moved on to a more 70s inspired vibe with aviator silhouettes, tortoiseshells rounds and preppy tones of navy and red being introduced into the sartorial collection. With names such as ‘Ronnie’, ‘Suzy’, ‘Kiki’ and ‘Sherlock’ included into the 70s vibe of London Retro’s second season, we’re all set for a rather psychedelic summer in the city.
Here’s some exclusive shots from yesterday’s shoot in London.
