Help Choosing Glasses

Help with choosing your glasses

There’s an art to choosing the glasses that look great on you. If you need help, try the following advice for size. And nothing beats a second opinion - get your partner or friends involved.

  1. 1) Know what styles suit your face shape
  2. 2) And which suit your hair, eye and skin colour
  3. 3) Once you’ve picked some frames, you can see how they look on you in our virtual mirror, or try them on at home. Marvellous.

Matching your frames to your hair, eyes and skin

Dark

Dark

Best match: Dark, big, bold frame

If your natural colouring (hair, skin and eyes) is dark, you’ll easily be able to carry dark, bold glasses. Black or dark brown frames in plastic or heavier metal will complement your features without dominating your face. Make the most of the fact

Light to medium

Light to medium

Best match: Paler colours such as cream with rimless or delicate frames

Bold frames would be too much for you. Instead, opt for ‘I’m an intellectual’ style of frame - delicate or rimless. If you want a bolder frame, then choose a complementary colour such as caramel or tortoiseshell.

Silver and white

Silver and white

Best match: Silver, pewter or rimless frames

Silver and white hair tones need a very elegant look. Choose silver, pewter or rimless frames. Go bold only if you have an effervescent personality. You’ve been warned! As you loose colour from your hair, you’re likely to see it going from your skin, too. A paler complexion needs relatively soft tones. Keep lens tints gentle or risk them looking dated.
