How to order varifocal glasses
Introducing the revolutionary opticians-on-call service for varifocal lenses.
This pioneering new service is exclusive to Glasses Direct customers
We have teamed up with opticians up and down the country so that we can offer varifocal glasses over the internet, and save our customers hundreds of pounds at a time. Because we cannot yet provide this service in Northern Ireland, varifocals are not available in Northern Ireland.
The process
- Place an order with us for varifocal glasses. Just go through the normal order process, and choose 'varifocal lenses' as an optional extra on the 'personalise your glasses' page. Complete your order.
- We will call you to arrange a suitable time for an optical dispenser to come and visit you at home to take measurements needed to produce these high quality lenses.
- Your glasses are guaranteed to be delivered to your door within 28 days of the optician's visit.
The detail
- We will call you within three days of receiving your order to make the appointment
- Our representatives cover the whole of the UK (but NOT Northern Ireland)
- All representatives are security checked, smartly dressed and carry ID cards.
- The appointment will take no more than fifteen minutes
- The appointment may take place either at home or in the reception area of a workplace
- But best of all, the home-visit with the representative is included in the price!
The price
Varifocal lenses cost an extra £95 on top of the frame cost. We regularly speak to customers who have just been fleeced for £300 - £400 on the high street for their varifocal glasses, so we aim to halve what you would usually spend.

The Varifocal Guarantee
If you have chosen varifocal lenses in your glasses we have created a special 'varifocal guarantee'. For these glasses we have extended the usual return period from 14 days to give you up to 28 days to get used to the lenses. If you are not totally satisfied with them don't panic - we will exchange them for either a new pair of bifocals or one pair of reading glasses and one pair of distance glasses; it's your choice and of course there will be absolutely no extra cost to you. Now that's reassuring!
