13 Oct 2023

What are your favourite TV shows at the moment? Now that autumn is here and the long evenings are drawing in, many of us find the best way to relax after a busy day is to curl up in front of the TV. Whatever genres appeal to you the most, there is bound to be something you really love watching.

After all, the way in which we experience our favourite programmes has evolved massively in recent years. With numerous streaming services available at the click of a button, we are totally spoilt for choice on what shows we can watch and also where and when we can watch them. There are so many incredible shows you have to see that it’s actually hard to narrow them down! Despite this, we’ve chosen a few that have captured their audience’s attention and have handpicked a variety of glasses and sunglasses worn by your favourite television stars who featured in these shows.

Dame Prue Leith – The Great British Bake Off

Known for her classy and colourful outfits, Dame Prue Leith is a true style icon. She is a culinary connoisseur and is well-recognised for her role as a judge on The Great British Bake Off. Her talents are endless and her career is jam-packed with experience as a chef, restaurateur, philanthropist, television personality, radio presenter, cookery writer and novelist. She has also recently launched her own stylish glasses collection! Prue sees her glasses (and her necklaces) as the perfect accessory to every outfit.

In the first and second episodes of series 14 of The Great British Bake Off, Prue wears a pair of vibrant red glasses. We have selected this design from our own exclusive collection which is very similar. If her bold sense of fashion has inspired you, we recommend this bright Clara frame.

Charlie Cale – Poker Face

Poker Face is the latest American comedy-drama series to have us hooked! Influenced by the classic mystery-of-the-week TV shows that were a hit in the 1970s, it stars the talented Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale. She plays a husky-voiced woman who has a remarkable natural skill for being able to identify when someone is telling a lie. Charlie is a casino worker with a knack for solving crimes. She goes on the run and lives a nomad lifestyle entangling herself in numerous mysteries that she inevitably unravels.

Charlie’s nostalgic sense of fashion often sees her sporting a pair of classic Aviator sunglasses. We have selected this oversized design by London Retro which reminds us of a pair she wears in the series. If you love 70s-style vintage sunglasses, these are a must-have pair!

Paris Fury – At Home with the Furys

The hit Netflix reality show, At Home with the Furys gives us an inside look into the family life of heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. The series takes us behind the scenes and reveals what he’s been up to following his early retirement from boxing. When Tyson and his wife Paris Fury are on a luxury holiday in Cannes, she wears a glamorous pair of chunky sunglasses. Throughout the series, she also looks fabulous in various different designer shades.

We have selected this luxury design from Dolce & Gabbana which is very similar to her usual style. She often goes for oversized black sunglasses with intricate gold detailing. Giving her effortless glamour, perfect for pool-side relaxation! Achieve the ultimate celebrity look in these designer sunglasses.

Otis Milburn – Sex Education

Sex Education is a popular British teen drama. The first series was released on Netflix in 2019. This hit show follows misfit school student Otis played by Asa Butterfield. Living with his not-so-shy sex therapist mother, he has become some what of an expert on intimate subjects. Otis notices his talent and alongside his friend Maeve, plots to set up secret sex therapy sessions at school.

Series four recently debuted at the end of last month and we can’t get enough. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen it yet, we won’t reveal any spoilers! Instead, we’re going to test your memory and take you back to series two. Do you remember when Otis is seen in a pair of bright yellow sunglasses the morning after a party? We have selected this pair from Polo Ralph Lauren which are a striking match.

Despite being set in the present day, the characters in the series love their throwback fashion. We adore their retro choices and these brightly-coloured sunglasses certainly match that vibe! Transport yourself back to the fun and colourful trends of the 1980s and 90s!

Jody Cundy – Strictly Come Dancing

Who doesn’t revel in the glitz and glamour of a reality show that centres on a dazzling dance contest? Strictly Come Dancing is currently airing on BBC One. We just love seeing celebrities hit the dance floor and show off their latest moves in front of the judges. In the Launch Show of the 21st series this year, we met the glamorous celebrity line-up who were each partnered with a professional dancer. Many celebrities have appeared on the show so far this year, including World and Paralympic Champion Jody Cundy.

When Jody’s not winning medals or taking a turn on the dance floor, he looks stylish in a pair of rectangular semi-rimless glasses. We have chosen this sophisticated pair by Ray-Ban® which are almost identical to the pair he wears.

Jughead – Riverdale

Riverdale is a captivating American crime drama series inspired by the characters of Archie Comics. It follows Archie and his friends Betty, Jughead and Veronica, who whilst navigating the challenges of adolescence also face several sinister mysteries in their small town. The penultimate season, released gradually throughout the start of this year, was a big hit and resulted in a very moving finale. Fans of the show will recall one of their favourite characters, Jughead Jones as an intelligent yet very laid-back individual with a very dark sense of humour. Jughead has a casual, grungy look and is rarely seen without his grey beanie and famous ‘S’ t-shirt.

Throughout the series we see Jughead’s style develop with his character from his early denim-plaid days to a more edgy aesthetic in later episodes. In the final season, he plays the part of a struggling author and is famously seen wearing a slick pair of browline glasses. The London Retro frame we have selected here is very similar to the one worn by actor Cole Sprouse, who played Jughead throughout the series.
