Yes, we are registered with the NHS to accept NHS optical vouchers online. The voucher bands we accept are A and B vouchers for single vision lenses, and E and F vouchers if you require bifocals and varifocals.

Unfortunately, you can only use the voucher online, but if you’d like to speak to us about your order, or talk to one of our opticians about your prescription, we’ll be pleased to help. Our phone number is 01793 746601 and lines are open between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and between 9am and 1pm on Saturday.

With all NHS vouchers, we are offering you a frame from our £59 range as well as free lenses - there are no additional payments required. We'll need card details to secure your order, but don't worry, you won't be charged.

If you want to upgrade your frame or lens options then that's no problem. Simply select the options you want and pay just HALF the difference!

1. Once you've placed your order we'll want to see an image of your voucher - we'll send you details of how to do this via email, either from your mobile phone or from your computer.

2. Once we've verified your voucher, we'll take a copy of your prescription and follow up with any questions. Rest assured a qualified optician will review and approve your order before it's made!

Your glasses will then be made and dispatched to you as soon as they are ready. We'll also send you a postage-paid envelope so you can send us your voucher in return.

Finally, once you receive your glasses, please sign and date your voucher, then send it back to us in the postage-paid envelope provided - and let us know what you think!

You can find the optical voucher type you are entitled to under 'Part 1 Patient's details' of your GOS3 voucher.

Regrettably we can only accept vouchers that fall within our prescription range, which is SPH values to +/-8.00 and CYL values to +/-4.00.

Regrettably we can only accept prescriptions with a SPH value of +/-8.00 or less, and with a CYL value of +/-4.00 or less.

If you have voucher A, you can get a frame priced up to £59 (excluding Boutique frames) for free, with clear single vision lenses and free Silver lens package.

If you have voucher B, you can get a frame priced up to £59 (excluding Boutique frames) for free, with clear single vision lenses and free Gold lens package.

If you have voucher E, you can get a frame priced up to £59 (excluding Boutique frames) for free, with free bifocal or varifocal Advanced lenses and free Silver lens package.

If you have voucher F, you can get a frame priced up to £59 (excluding Boutique frames) for free, with free bifocal or varifocal Advanced lenses and free Gold lens package.

If you want more expensive frames, a different lens package to what is covered with the voucher, or any additional lens extras, you will only be charged 50% of any additional costs (for example, if you go £30 over the voucher value, you will be charged £15). Frames from the Boutique range are excluded and cannot be selected.

This is purely for validation purposes to secure the order as we'll be sending you the glasses before we receive your voucher for payment. We do a temporary 'active card check' to verify that your account is valid. There needs to be at least £1 in the account for the check to be completed. You will not be charged, however, your bank may show £1 as reserved for up to 30 days.

With voucher E, you can get a frame priced up to £59 (excluding Boutique frames) for free, with free bifocal or varifocal Advanced lenses and free Silver lens package.

With voucher F, you can get a frame priced up to £59 (excluding Boutique frames) for free, with free bifocal or varifocal Advanced lenses and free Gold lens package.

If you want more expensive frames, a different lens package to what is covered with the voucher, or any additional lens extras, you will only be charged 50% of any additional costs (for example, if you go £30 over the voucher value, you will be charged £15). Frames from the Boutique range are excluded and cannot be selected.

Unfortunately not. Your NHS voucher cannot be used with any other offer, including 2-for-1 glasses.

Your NHS optical voucher covers a frame priced up to £59, excluding frames marked as Boutique. If you upgrade to a more expensive frame or more expensive lens options, you’ll only be charged half the price difference.

You'd need to place 2 separate orders: one for the distance pair and the other for reading, and select the appropriate voucher value for each one.

We can only supply a tint supplement if the prescribing optician has specified that you need one for therapeutic reasons, and the ‘Tint’ box is ticked on your GOS 3 form. If the tint box has been ticked, one of our opticians would need to call you to discuss your tint needs. If your GOS 3 form does not include a tint supplement, you can still upgrade to tinted lenses but you will be charged 50% of any additional costs (so Transitions® will start from £27.50 with the optical voucher applied).

Don’t worry, before we process the order, one of our opticians will check the voucher that you email to us, and contact you if the value is incorrect.

Please note that if you’ve already placed an order, we can’t provide the voucher discount unless we have your voucher. In these circumstances, if we haven’t received a new voucher from you within 14 days, we will charge the order value to your credit or debit card and refund you when we receive the voucher. If you have already received your order, you can opt to return the glasses to us instead of supplying a new voucher, or pay the full price for them.

Unfortunately we do not accept repair vouchers for glasses.

Unfortunately not. The voucher can only be used against an order for the person named on the voucher.

At the moment we are only online so we don’t supply eye tests.

Your voucher is valid for 2 years from the issue date.

Once you have placed your order, you’ll need to email us a photo or a scanned copy of your GOS3 NHS optical voucher - both sides, including the prescription. Please ensure the optician who supplied the voucher has completed, signed and dated Part 1 - including their ‘performers list number’ - because without these we cannot process your voucher. You will also need to send us photo evidence of your eligibility for the voucher.

A few days after you have received your new glasses, we’ll post you a pre-paid envelope. You will need to send us your completed NHS voucher, both signed and dated, within 2 weeks of receiving your pre-paid envelope.

To send us a picture using your mobile phone, simply photograph both sides of your optical voucher plus your proof of eligibility, and attach them in an email to us at nhs@glassesdirect.co.uk.

If you are using a computer, photograph both sides of your optical voucher plus your proof of eligibility, upload them to your computer, and attach them in an email to us. Alternatively, scan everything onto your computer using a scanner.

If you don’t receive the envelope within 7 days of receiving your glasses please let us know and we will post you another.

As part of the NHS’s commitment to reduce fraud we are required to see evidence of a person’s eligibility to receive a voucher before we can process the order. The optician who supplies the voucher should also ask for this evidence. Find out more here about evidence of entitlement.

You can return your glasses for any reason within 90 days to be either exchanged or refunded. If you exchange them for a different pair, there will be no additional cost unless the pair you’re exchanging them for costs more. If you want a refund, we can only reimburse you for any additional cost paid over the voucher allowance. We will return the voucher to you so you can use it from a different supplier, but please note we can only do this if you are returning them within 30 days.

If you return the glasses within 30 days of receiving them we will return the voucher to you, but if the glasses are received later than this we may not be able to accept them for a refund, and we won’t be able to return the voucher to you as it will be sent off to be claimed. In this instance you would need to obtain a new voucher from the testing optician, and we will contact the local health authority to inform them.
